Natalie Franco
In frozen slivers of precious time, Natalie’s luscious images embody her passions and compassions, rendering the images no longer static, but active participants in global awareness. That’s magic. That’s Natalie.
Natalie Franco effortlessly composes humanity as one might painstakingly compose narrative watercolor. Everything in her images is in context; everything in her images is the world. Natalie’s lens is a key to a seldom‐used doorway of the human condition, unlocking her resonating concern while revealing stark realities, often concealed. With her remarkably clear eye, sincerity, depth of care and investment, Natalie brings to her work an unquenchable thirst for truth and beauty.
The punishing realism of her imagery belies Natalie’s tenderness and empathy for her challenging motivations and causes. Every edge and tone has a purpose, and with both strength and delicacy she responds to the moment.
As teacher and mentor, I’ve known Natalie for over 15 years, and know that she battles daily through considerable physical pain and discomfort, making her journeys and engagements of the planet even more noteworthy. She courageously and selflessly forges ahead for her art. To speak of her growth and commitment to photography is difficult to put into words, but it’s so clear that what Natalie employs in every image is something that one can’t teach.
The beauty in her compositions is a constant reminder of our relative reality.
Questions and desires live together in a choreographed display of light, shadow, and life. That’s magic. That’s Natalie.
